Did you know the Q400 is one of the quietest aircraft in the world?

The Q400 turboprop is one of the quietest aircraft flying today, inside and out. Outside, it's 10 decibels (EPNdB) quieter on routes where it has replaced similar capacity older generation jet aircraft. That makes the Q400 one of the few aircraft quiet enough to operate in city centre airports such as London and Toronto. Inside, our revolutionary Active Noise and Vibration Suppression (ANVS) system significantly reduces noise and vibration, making it as quiet as a jet.

The comparison shows the cumulative noise of the Q400 compared to the average of 70-seat jets currently in operation. Exterior noise is measured during three phases of flight, called lateral, sideline and approach.

The Q400 airliner uses technology originally developed for nuclear submarines. This makes it the quietest turboprop in the world. In fact, the Q400 turboprop is as quiet and comfortable as current jets.

How does the cabin noise level of the Q400 compare?
